-ok halloween. we can be friends again.

halloween is my favorite holiday, however, we've been on bad terms these past years. for me, the perfect fall weather, eating your weight in candy and carving pumpkins were delites totally trumped by the slut-o-rama costumes any girl over the age of 14 felt she had to wear. oh, the pressure.

i gave in one year and spent the entire evening picking my butt and avoiding eye contact with those i was obviously offending. shame on me. i nearly gave up on the holiday until this year when i realized i could totally enjoy it all through the eyes of my 2 year old. we did the hayrides, halloween stores, parties, parades and trunk or treating. this was the best year ever. i actually forgot to dress up because i was too entertained with brooks experiencing for the first time the mix of the 2 greatest emotions: excitement and fear (remember the first time you peed your pants?)

we ended the festivities in our neighbor's driveway, enjoying a bucket of chicken and handing out candy to mobs of super heroes and little witches. a fishnet free evening- total success.

Enjoy it while you can! Someday when Brooks is a greedy little 10 year old who forgets his manners and takes gobs and gobs of candy from each house only to totally crash and burn the next day...you and Halloween won't be friends anymore:)

Too cute! I also love having my kids get excited to dress up and get CANDY. That's all Maddie talks about these days

According to daily candy, those slutty teens can affectionately be referred to as "Children of the porn"

Nothing is more fun than watching the super mormon BYU coeds get dressed up to go to the UVU slut fest! I love that scene in Mean Girls where she described what Halloween really is. Nothing could be more spot on. Halloween was always my favorite but I found myself getting annoyed with the super lazy trunk or treating (when did this take over regular earn you candy trick or treating).

Brooks looks cute and I am glad you all had a good time.

His costume is a riot. Love you - wish we were closer (as always).

As I look at your cute Halloween pictures, all I can think of is how bitter I am that you guys are in shorts and short sleeve shirts while i am in a long sleeve shirt with long pants, and a blanket ... still freezing my a** off. If only my a** came off that way, then it would be worth it. Can't wait till you come to visit and freeze you a** off too!!
